The Colombian National Ballet’s mission is to keep alive the cultural traditions of the various regions of Colombia and to project them all over the world. For more than 50 years, it’s genial founder and choreographer: Ms. Sonia Osorio (1924-2011) toured internationally sharing the passion and folklore, garnering in the process triumph after triumph on the most prestigious stages of the world.
Today, under the direction of Rodrigo Obregon Osorio, son of Ms. Osorio, the Ballet maintains the same level of excellence and aims, with its 30 dancers and 12 musicians to continue its mission of taking this spectacle all over the world.
Thanks to its unique blending between ancestral traditions and modern techniques, the National Ballet of Colombia has received international acclaim in renowned dance festivals and main theaters in Monte Carlo, Paris, Madrid, Brussels, Berlin, Rome, Tel Aviv, Jordan, Cairo, Tokyo, Beijing, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo, Santiago de Chile, Lima, Quito, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Hollywood and more..
The National Ballet also has an art academy where children and adults learn from experienced dancers, classical ballet and the folk dance traditions. Planning on visiting Bogota? Let us know when and we can make an appointment for you to visit the academy.
