OF GUYANA SWIMSUIT CALENDAR LAUNCHED IN NEW YORK…..
The
"Girls of Guyana" Swimsuit calendar 2003 was launched in New
York, USA on September 4th 2002. This high quality 12"x18"
calendar features local and overseas Guyanese swimsuit models
relaxing on the beach.
The
calendar was produced by Demper Group Inc, a New York based
company founded by overseas-based Guyanese. Demper's objective
is to showcase Guyanese and Caribbean beauty in print and
media. This objective was conceived about 2 years ago and
necessitated visits to Guyana in 2001 and 2002 in order to
select and photograph the local beauties. It is Demper's belief
that Guyanese women possess extraordinary natural beauty and
talent and as such should be more visible in print.
Some
of the calendar models are beauty queens and others are aspiring
models and actresses. The calendar's theme was one of a "natural"
beach with the models providing the natural touch. Most of
the selected models are progressive, friendly and possess
natural beauty. In fact, three of the calendar models are
beauty queen holders.
Model
photo shoots were conducted at Splashmins, Soesdyke Linden
Highway (Guyana) and New York City, USA. The calendar is presently
available in New York City, New Jersey, Georgia, England and
Guyana. In Guyana, it is sold at the Ebusiness Center at Louisa
Road (Tel: 592-225-0036). Local Guyanese designer Michelle
Cole, contributed significantly to this project and her swimsuits
are featured in the calendar.
The
"Girls of Guyana" Swimsuit calendar posses a high quality
and depicts our Guyanese women in an attractive, sensual and
joyful manner. Upon leaving through the calendar, one is mesmerized
by the natural beauties and wonder where are these women hiding
in Guyana.
Demper Group intends to make a charitable donation to an educational
institution in early 2003. They hope that the Guyanese public
(both local and overseas) will support this project.
